Nest E not connecting to app

Can’t connect Nest E to Nest IOS app. When I use the Nest app and scan the QR code, it then opens the google home app this then wants me to enter my Nest credentials which is a downright fail, as my Nest credentials are using google authentication. So I try a workaround and try to create a Nest account without google auth which it won’t let me.  So I then try to add the device manually to the Nest app and it asks for the device number which I enter, it then wants me to confirm which number exists on the device and nothing shows  up. ( see attached pic ). If anything this has been the worst experience ever and shows a total failure for two companies (now one ) to combine their products. I have tried deleting the google home app and then adding. I would considering myself pretty proficient at connecting up home automation , I’ve mostly used Alexa / Amazon products but sadly this is my first google home and perhaps last.

@MacDude

Do you have the most recent version of the Google Nest app (5.70.0) on your iPhone? Do you have another phone you can use for the install?

Are you logging onto the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google (gmail) Account?

(The Nest Thermostat E does get installed in the Google Nest app and cannot be installed in the Google Home app.)

Yes I have the latest version of the nest app. I

tried to install from pc but will try another phone. I am logging onto both with the same google account ( as per my post) . As per my post I tried both Nest and Google app. Would be great if google made that clear that it cannot be installed by the latter. Will try another phone and update his post shortly.

Hi I’m still having issues. Totally hating this device, big fan of google but this is a total failed attempt to integrate a product

Your response makes zero sense , because when I try add it to the WiFi it says to add it on google home. Wow this is the worst device I’ve used. I have pretty much the entire house hooked up to Amazon and I would say I’m pretty proficient at this stuff considering I’ve been in the IT game for over 20yrs. I’m about to throw this crap device out tbh

You can close this ticket. I reset the device for the second time and it connected
