Nest E thermostat and google home

I have just had this thermostat installed and it’s need set up by my installer on the nest app . Can I also add it to my google home app ? I’ve tried and when I get to the finding device it doesn’t find anything. I then choose thermostat and when it asks me to scan it doesn’t recognise the qr code . Not quite sure where I’m going wrong . Any help appreciated

When you install a Nest Thermostat E or a Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Nest app, it should AUTOMATICALLY appear in the Google Home app if you are logging onto both apps with the same Google Account and are accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" in both apps. (You cannot directly install either of these thermostats in the Google Home app.)

However, for more than a year customers in this forum have reported this isn't happening for them. Many of those customers have tried this workaround:

1) In the Google Nest app, create a new, temporary Google Nest "home/structure".

2) Go to that new, empty Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app and delete it.

3) This apparently forces the 2 apps to sync, and the thermostat appears in the Google Home app.

Hello everyone,

I'm dropping by to make sure everything is covered here.

Thanks for the help here, MplsCustomer.

@Flo96, it sounds like you're having some trouble integrating your new thermostat into your Google Home app. Don't worry, we'll get you sorted out!

Ensure that your thermostat is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network and that it's online. Sometimes, connectivity issues can prevent devices from being detected during setup. Also, give the setup instructions provided above a try. If you're still having trouble, let us know.

Best regards,
Mark
