Nest E thermostat.

I want to install a Nest E thermostat to my conventional system but the wiring on my ancient British gas SR1 is a little vague. I have wires to N L and call with an earth. Googles on line compatibility checker says it won't work but I'm sure that that is me feeding it the wrong info.

Any help appreciated.
