Nest Gen 3 Thermostat fan ONLY issue

StilltheBC

So far my Nest has worked very well over the past 2 years. SUDDENLY however it seems I can no longer run the FAN only without trning on the heat or Air Conditioning.  When I turned the thermostat to fan, well, the fan only came on. However, recently that stopped working. I've read from other users that they had to turn on the heat or a/c in order for the fan to run.  When I do that, yest the fan runs, but so does the heat or air conditioning.. I really only want the fan.  I removed the thermostat and jumped the Red and Green wires, and the fan started running. Nothing else.

Is this an issue with software or something new??

I just filed a warranty claim for a broken (no charging) NEST Learning Thermostat and was told I would be contacted. I didn't receive a follow-up email or phone call, so I'm wondering when I can expect a response to find out what the next step is since our main living areas are currently without air conditioning.

Hello folks,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiries. I'd be happy to take a look at this.

@StilltheBC, I appreciate all the possible steps you've taken. To isolate: could you please share your Nest Thermostat's wiring with us? Gather the power readouts in the Technical Info settings. This would help us see if it was a power-related issue. Also, could you try going to the Equipment settings and testing the Fan alone to see if it's working?

@LongSleevesShir, I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been contacted yet. It appears that you're experiencing a different issue with your Nest Thermostat. To avoid confusion on this thread, I'd suggest that you please create another post with your Warranty Claim ID number so we can further assist you.

Best regards,
Mark
