Nest Gen 3 heating on both Heat and Cool modes (single fuel heat pump)

Nest 3rd Gen is blowing hot air on both Heat and Cool.

Heating and cooling work as expected with old Honeywell thermostat.

Nest OB is currently set to O.  Tried flipping it to B, but it didn’t solve the issue.

Nest set to single fuel (system is electric heat pump and electric aux heat strips).

Equipment:

  • Heil R4H424GKP100 Heat Pump
  • Heil FEM4X2400CL Air Handler

Wiring pics:

  • NestNest wiring (hot air on both Heat and Cool modes)Nest wiring (hot air on both Heat and Cool modes)
  • HoneywellHoneywell wiring (works)Honeywell wiring (works)

Happy to provide further info.  Any help is appreciated.  Many thanks!

Hello Snuj,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry.

I appreciate the thermostat wiring diagram and the steps you've taken. Could you try moving the power wire from the Rh terminal to the RC terminal? Restart the thermostat after making changes. Also, please turn off the power from your HVAC system at the breaker box before touching the wires, and let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Mark

Hi there,

I'm checking back in. Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — I'd like to make sure everything is working.

Regards,

Mark
