Nest Learning Gen2 Thermostat not working

My nest learning thermostat will not connect to my wifi signal automatically or manually. I have performed all resets on both sides nest and router. The thermostat continues to shut off. There is a flashing red light. I removed the nest thermostat and charged it, plugged it back in once charged and the unit works for a couple hours and then shuts down again. I believe this is due to the connectivity issue. Checked all wiring with meter and there is power going to the device.

Here are some additional steps you can try:

• Even if you've charged the thermostat, ensure that the Thermostat is charged to 3.8 V or more (Verify this in the thermostat settings > technical information > power). If the Thermostat is not showing the recommended level, try to charge up the device for about 2 hours and ensure that the thermostat is receiving enough power.
• Verify the wiring system is firmly and properly connected to the correct terminals.

Do you see an error code? Please let me know if you can find an error message on the thermostat, this information will be useful to isolate the inconvenience. Go to the option settings > network, to check if you can find this notification.

Thanks for the information Daniel. 

I have tried the steps above and they didn’t help. The thermostat will charge and then as soon as I put it on the base it shuts off and a red light flashes and it doesn’t turn back on. Nothing has changed with the wiring the system has been working fine over the last couple of years. 

As I mentioned it disconnected from our wifi connection one day and I have been unable to get it to connect back and over that time it has been just shutting off on its own. Now it won’t even stay on. I think the device is broken.
