Is the Learning Thermostat is compatible with this system?

you have a heat pump system and your thermostat currently uses auxiliary heat and emergency heat. You have a “B” style heat pump. You will require a nest learning thermostat 3rd generation. There is a a light blue conductor not being used, and this wire should be repurposed as your power Common wire for the thermostat.

Can I use the "X" tan wire as the Nest Common and then put the white W2 to Nest W1? I also don't need the jumper to emergency, correct?
Thanks again.

What part of the country is your home located? Basically if you have cold winters you might want the emergency heat capability. On the heater hand, if you repurpose the the tan wire to be Power Common, you will need to go to the air handler and rewire the tan wire to the C terminal. Why do that when you have an in used Blue wire that you can just connect to C in the air handler and use it as C for the Thermostat.

That makes way more sense! Thanks for your response. I'm located in central North Carolina. Winters here rarely hit single digits. I reached out to a few more colleagues for suggestions and wiring the tan wire to Nest C was one of their solutions. Your answer seems like the correct method.
Thanks again!

The tan wire on X is in the heating block. W2, W3, and X. To sort this out, we need go to your air handler and see what X tan wire is attached to. The Orange O wire is your heat pump reversing valve and goes to O/B on the Nest. With a heat pump the Red wire will go to Nest Rc. The Yellow wire goes to Y1. The green wire to G, and the White wire on W2 goes to nest W2. You can discard the black wire jumper between E and W2.
