Nest Learning Thermostat - Heat and Air running concurrently

mattmono3

Hello, I saw this discussed elsewhere, but I was not able to see a fix. This issue has been happening for over a year, and I have already had my Learning Thermostat swapped out once in case it was an equipment issue. It randomly occurs that when the heat is running, the outdoor A/C unit will also begin to run. Vice versa, in the summer, it also occurs that the furnace will turn on when the A/C is running. I've called about this issue a dozen times, and nothing seems to help. The wiring appears correct. It happened again today, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi mattmono3,

Thanks for posting here in Community, and I'm sorry for the late reply. Let's sort this out.

Have you seen any error messages that appeared on the Nest Thermostat display? You can go to Settings, then Equipment, to check if it shows one. I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe

Hi Zoe, thanks! No, I haven't seen any errors when this happens. Just seems to happen randomly and only way to get it to stop is to turn the breaker off.

Hi there,

Thanks for letting us know. Please check for the energy history of your Nest Learning Thermostat.

  • Open the Nest app and tap your Nest thermostat on the home screen.
  • Tap History for a 10-day summary.
  • Tap on any day to learn more details about why the temperature changed.

Regards,

Zoe
