I tried to transfer my Nest Learning Thermostat from the Nest App to Google Home. I followed the instructions found in the Google Home pages and came up with errors. I started by removing the Nest Thermostat from my Nest App that also contains thermostats for other houses. When I tried to add to Google Home, I got this error: "Error! Unable to start device pairing. Configuration not available." I backtracked and retried several times, always with the same error. I tried to add it back to the Nest App (where it was operating perfectly) but the Nest App now tells me it already exists and I have to remove it before I can add it again. Unfortunately the Nest App doesn't show it as being there, so I can't remove it.
I am happy to put it back on the Nest as I am getting nowhere with the Google Home app. I'd rather not remove the Nest App and have to start from scratch with all of the thermostats. Any suggestions?

Hello jfwright99.
Thanks for reaching out to our community about your Nest Learning Thermostat. I'm here to help you connect this device to the app again.
I appreciated the troubleshooting steps you tried. With that, I can see you tried to connect the thermostat with the account, but this is already connected.
Let me ask about the thermostat. When you go to the option Nest App in the Settings, this device shows you the options to connect with the app or it shows you that it is already connected.
Also could you tell us if you tried to perform a factory reset?
Feel free to reply with more details about your thermostat; I will do my best to help you.
Best Regards,
Douglas.

Hi Douglas, I did try performing a factory reset on the Nest, but the neither the Nest App nor Google Home will allow me to add it. Same errors as before the factory reset.
With respect to going to Nest App in Settings, which app are we talking about? Nest or Google home?

Thanks for your reply Jim.
I appreciate this information. I apologize for all this inconvenience. If you tried this reset, there is no reason for the app to show this device as connected.
In this case, you need to first connect the thermostat to the Nest app and then migrate the information to the Home app. I know you already tried that.
My advice now is to try to delete the Nest app and download it again, then select Sign in with Google, sign in with a different email address, and follow the process to pair the thermostat with this new email.
With this, we can determine if the old email is stuck with the information set previously and this is why it shows the thermostat already connected. If this is the case, you need to control your thermostat with a new email.
Please keep posting about this. I am here to help.
Sincerely,
Douglas.

The Nest Learning Thermostat must be set up using the Nest app only. You can not use the Google Home app to set it up.
Once it is correctly set up and configured in the Nest app it should automatically appear in the Google Home app if you used the same Google account for both. If you haven't converted your Nest account to a Google account you will need to for it to work
