Hello everyone, before I ordered my basic Nest thermostat I checked on Google‘s website for compatibility, and it said that my system should be compatible with the basic Nest model that I got (as well as Learning and E models). When I unpacked it and tried to set it up, it said that my system was not compatible. I saw other people complaining about this too. Couldn’t find a way to attach a photo of my wiring block. It currently works with the clunky old-style Lux thermostat. My wires: G (green wire), Y (blue), RC-RH jumper, RH (red wire), W1 (white). I don’t see terminals for all these wires on the Nest block, at least they’re not called the same. So is there any hope? Thanks!

@mi_pilot , the basic, as you call it, Nest Thermostat back plate has R, Y, W, G, C, * terminals. Your Red wire goes to R, your green wire goes to G, your blue wire goes to Y, and your white wire goes to W.
Once you verify your email address you will be able to upload pictures.

When you ran the compatibility test did the results look like this?
If so then you will probably need to add a C wire.
If you have any extra wires at the thermostat you can use it by connecting it to the C terminal on both ends.
You can use the Nest Power Connector to create a C wire if you don't.
