Nest Learning Thermostat not working

KyleD2244

Bought 3 Nest Learning Thermostats. The one in my living room works great. Tried to install a second one in our master and it turns on then immediately shuts off and says it is restarting and blinks yellow. The 3rd one blinks yellow and red and will not turn on. I did buy these off someone so I am not sure if they are faulty or if my system does not like all of them. Thanks

Hello KyleD2244,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Nest thermostats can tell us a lot from their blinking lights, so let's check them out and get you back on track.

My first suggestion is to ensure these thermostats have a proper battery level. We recommend charging your thermostats via the USB port on the back for about 90 minutes before installing. This should provide enough charge for the thermostat to work correctly.

If the thermostats continue to experience this behavior after charging, please let me know which lights you see when you try to turn them on.

It's also a good idea to double-check the physical connection of the thermostat, including the pins on the back of the display and the backplate. Make sure enough power is being supplied to the base by verifying that the wires are securely connected and your HVAC equipment is powered on.

Let me know what you find out.

Regards,
Angel.

Everything has been charged appropriately and appears to be physically intact. It continues to blink red while on the wall but when I take it off it then blinks green and yellow. It does this same thing on my other mount as well and that nest functions perfectly so I don’t believe it’s wiring or the mount.

Hi KyleD2244,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Your efforts in testing these Nest Thermostats are appreciated, however since it seems they're still not able to stay on after verifying the wiring and the baseplate are okay, and they have enough battery power on them, I suggest filling out this form.

Filling out the form will allow my team to gather more information about your thermostats. We can take a closer look at these two thermostats and determine the best course of action.

Let me know once you've filled out the form that way I can let my team know and they can reach out to you via email as soon as possible.

Regards,
Angel.
