Nest Learning Thermostat offline and low battery message

Hello

It looks like a well known issue and some people have already posted. I have gone through most of the posts but have not found the solution.
I get a message that says "Battery low.

WiFi disconnected.

What would be the solution - change battery or thermostat?
Thanks in advance.

@Khenikandza , there have a been a few posts where older Nest Learning Thermostats with internal batteries fail to charge the battery.  At this point it is not clear if the battery has failed or the charging circuitry has failed.  A basic test of the power input is needed before condemning the Nest Learning Thermostat. First is to verify the power input of the HVAC 24VAC transformer.

ok, thanks for the reply. That's what I am trying to figure out. Nothing has changed except the weather 🙂 it is cold here 🙂 . I'll check power first.
