Nest Learning making adjustments on it's own

My nest for weeks now has continued to make adjustments in the "history" view that are not tied to any physical adjustments or the schedule.  I have tried everything I can based on a lot of research online and Google "support" articles--I have turned off auto-schedule, I have turned off early-on, I have cleared out all schedules and checked this across all devices, I have deleted and re-added the app on all devices and most recently have done a factory reset and re-installed.

3 days after the factory reset and re-install, we are still finding a list of adjustments made by the thermostat--it says "temperature set by your adjustment" (we didn't do that), "temp set by schedule" (we were away from the home/Eco settings), and even "started heating to reach X degrees by X time" (worst of all the times it is showing is not even in our local time ie. says it's turning on to reach temperature by 8am, at 3am or 4am in the middle of the night).

How can I, for sure, clear out any and all schedule and time zone settings and start fresh?  It seems like somewhere in the Google infrastructure settings are being retained despite our user directed settings.  Having to manually monitor and adjust like this totally negates the point of this product, and Google is essentially costing us MORE money simply for using this product.

Any tips/advice/Google support contacts we can try??

Hi, yes it's working well again, using the Nest app from two mobile devices and a programmed schedule.  Seems to be following the schedule again with no further mystery adjustments since we started with a fresh install of Nest app on our phones and dis-enrolled from the Nest Renew program.  Main takeaway here is the app should be more specific about which device and/or program is making the adjustments shown in the historical view, and ideally easier to read or be able to "zoom in" to the time line to see it better.

Thanks for the follow up.  You can close this thread now.

Hi BW2,

Thanks for posting ―let’s get this sorted out.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Restart your Google Nest Thermostat.
  2. If the issue persists, factory reset your Nest Thermostat. Here’s how: Restart or reset a Nest thermostat

Keep us posted,

Best

Thanks.  But as I stated in my post, I have already tried those steps.

Currently we are troubleshooting by only having the Nest app installed on one device, NEVER using the Google Home app, removing all programmed schedules and only adjusting the temp at the thermostat manually or via Nest app from the one device.  So far this has worked, with no incorrect times/adjustments/early-on activation showing the the "history" view, but obviously is missing a lot of the functionality we wanted from the Nest.

Hi BW2,

How has the experiment gone for you trying the single app method? Obviously you will have a fewer options not using Google Home, but are you seeing better results than before?

Thanks,
Jeff

Yes, it seems to be working accurately now, with no more mystery adjustments showing up in the history view in the middle of the night or when nobody is home.  I also tried having only 1 phone (mine) with the Nest app installed and only using the Nest by manual adjustment.  I also dis-enrolled from the Nest Renew program...perhaps that was responsible for making those adjustments even though the history view only said "temperature set by your adjustment"?  In any case, one of those changes seems to have fixed the issue, so next step we will try re-installing the Nest app on our second phone and going back to try a programmed schedule again to see if the temperature can be set automatically by the schedule, and remain accurate.
