Nest Schedule

Used to be able to change the nest heating and cooling schedule in the nest app by the hour.  This allowed a cooling or heating temperature during the day, then a different temperature group at night.  Can’t find the same capability in the Google Home App.  I don’t want it to “learn”, I want to control it.  When we change the default heat and air, it works until about 2:00 am then changes to the previously set settings from a year or so ago.

Hello RBush,

It sounds like you're experiencing some frustration with the changes in the Nest app and Google Home App for your heating and cooling schedule. It's understandable that you prefer manual control over the learning feature. In the Google Home app, the process might differ slightly from what you were used to with the Nest app. To set a specific schedule, try the following steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap on the thermostat device.
  3. Look for the "Schedule" option. This might be located in different sections, such as the main thermostat settings or in the device-specific settings.

If you're still having trouble finding the hourly schedule option, disable learning for the temperature schedule and turn off the Home and Away Assist for the Nest Learning Thermostat.

Regarding the issue of the settings reverting to a previous configuration, it could be related to a synchronization issue. Make sure to restart the thermostat after every change has been made to its settings.

I hope this helps and that you're able to regain the control you're looking for with your thermostat settings.

Best,
Mark
