Nest Sensor not turning on cooling in the connected thermostat

Hello,

I have a Nest learning thermostat with nest sensors in various rooms. When I choose one specific sensor (in the hottest) room to regulate the thermostat it never cools. The sensor is showing up in the app verifying the current temperature of said room but does not turn on the thermostat. Please help!

Hi BK80,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. I understand that's not following the set temperature to your Nest Thermostat. Don't worry, we'll go ahead and check what we can do.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Restart your Nest Thermostat.
  2. Remove the battery from the sensor for at least 30 seconds, then put it back.
  3. Make sure you’re logged in to the correct account and can see the sensor in the Nest app.
  4. To reset the network settings of your Nest Thermostat, go to Settings> Reset> Network. If Network isn't available, select Account connection instead.
  5. Reconnect your Nest Thermostat to the network. If you reset your Nest Thermostat’s Account connection, also reconnect your Nest Thermostat to the account.
  6. Run a connection test.
Note: If the sensor doesn't immediately show in the Nest app after you refresh the network connection, try to switch to Spaces view and back to the regular view. In the Nest app, tap Settings and then Spaces and then Tap the switch to enable and then Back and then Spaces and then Tap the switch to disable.
  7. To perform a full reset, remove the battery from the sensor for 5 minutes and then put it back.
  8. Unpair and pair the sensor back to the account.
