Nest Settings: Heat pump & Electric Furnace combo

Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice from someone who knows about nest settings for a Heat Pump/Electric Furnace combo.

I am located in Canada, so colder temps.... I have a 3rd gen nest thermostat. Trying to get the right settings.

The Heat Pump model I have is a Goodman GSZ140241LA. The aux heat is an electric furnace inside.

My understanding is that some heat pumps are designed for very cold climates, the model I have is not. That said, what settings should I have in place to:

a) maximize the use of the heat pump as intended by the model type

b) utilize the aux heat when needed when temps are 0 degrees Celsius or below (Cold Canadian climate during Winter months)

c) the settings that would allow for the most comfort, given the cold climate, but also the home I live in is older, so not well insulated, etc. etc. all the things that go along with an older home.

Thanks a lot everyone! If you need more info, just let me know. Hopefully this makes sense.
