Nest Thermostat Battery and Power Issues

I installed a new Nest thermostat a few weeks ago and it was working fine but now it is no longer online and I pulled it off the wall because it was saying low battery. I plugged it in to an external charger and left it overnight and  when I got up this morning and I attached it back to the wall it is still showing low battery. That is when it started saying there was a power issue; all of a sudden it is giving me the error E4 Wiring report No power to Rh wire detected. Why would there not be ay power when there was previous? I need to get this resolved rather quickly because it is pretty cold in the house. I had a Nest in my old house and never had any issues.

Hello RVAGirl,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your Nest Thermostat. It can be frustrating when a device that was working fine suddenly encounters problems. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the low battery and power issues:

  1. Ensure that the wires are securely connected to the thermostat terminals. Sometimes, a loose connection can lead to power issues. Make sure each wire is properly inserted into its corresponding terminal.
  2. Ensure that the circuit breaker for your HVAC system is not tripped. If it is, reset it and see if that resolves the issue.
  3. Perform a reset on your Nest Thermostat. This can be done by going to the thermostat settings and selecting "Reset" or by turning off the power to your HVAC system and then turning it back on.
  4. Gather the power readouts in the Technical Info settings.

Taking these steps would help us identify and potentially resolve the problem. Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
