Nest Thermostat “C” Wire

Does the “C” Wire connector adapter eliminate the need for a battery in the thermostat?  I recently installed the adapter and a new battery. Problem is the thermostat says it’s connected to wifi but my mobile device says it’s not. As a result I have to daily restart my thermostat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Hi Hague,

Thanks for posting here in Community, and I'm sorry for the late reply. Let's sort this out.

Can you help me with what type of Nest Thermostat you have? I'll look forward to your response.

2020 Nest. The thermostat has been installed since June and working just fine. I was using a lot of battery so installed the C wire adapter about a month ago.  Lately it’s been disconnecting during the middle of the night and then I have to go to the thermostat and press restart for it to go back online.

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. When the Nest Power Connector has been installed, it will now start to provide a sufficient power supply from your furnace to the Nest Thermostat base. If the Nest Thermostat was recently disconnected, can you help me with the power readings for it?

  • Tap the touch bar to bring up the Menu view.
  • Slide your finger down to Settings and tap to select.
  • Slide your finger down and tap to choose Equipment.
  • Tap Power Info.

Hi there,

I know its been a while, and I thank you for the follow-up information.

I just want to ask: after you installed the Nest Power Connector in your furnace control board, did you factory reset your Nest Thermostat 2020 to update its settings on the Google Home app? If not, I may request that you factory reset your Nest thermostat by going to Settings, scrolling down to Factory Reset, and then selecting it. Then, remove your Nest Thermostat from the Home app by touching and holding your device's tile, then tap Settings. Select Remove device, then tap Remove. Lastly, set up your Nest Thermostat 2020 back on the Home app, and then observe if it will gets offline again.

Thanks,

Zoe
