Nest Thermostat Error Logs Don't Exist?

I'm not sure if this is just another incredible oversight by Google, or if it just goes to show their priorities are in information gathering and not the customers' needs!

Yesterday my Google Nest Thermostat had an error code on it. I went to get my phone to take a photo of it, got sidetracked, and by the time I thought about it again the error code was gone.

Me being the idiot I apparently am thought "Oh, no biggie! I'll just look in the Google Home App for a notification for the error!", I mean because if there's some sort of critical error code surely it would be presented in the Google Home App notification section for easy retrieval, right? WRONG!

So again, being a fool and thinking that Google would have some simple method for retrieving past error codes I contact Google Help only to be told that even they can't retrieve previous error codes from a log?

Wow, I can't believe that a thermostat that's advanced as it is; is so freaking stupid! I'm not asking for a reserve of 16mbs of data, but you mean to tell me that Google can't allocate a single mb to hold error codes, and that it's too much to ask for the error codes to be presented in the Google Home App where they can be easily noticed, seen, retrieved, and copied?

The more I learn about my thousands of dollars of Google Home Devices the more smart my pet rock seems! Another Hit&Miss by the Google Development Team!

Hello Kornbr3d,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum.

I understand when you should expect to see a report in the Google Home app. However, if the thermostat detects an issue that should be fixed soon, we will send you an early warning alert within a week of detecting the problem. You can check out this article about HVAC alerts. A few questions: have you noticed any odd behavior with your HVAC system? Is this the first time you've noticed it? How long have you been using your Nest Thermostat? Also, could you please check the Power Info and Wiring Info on your actual thermostat's Equipment Settings if the report is showing?

Keep us posted.

Regards,

Mark
