Nest Thermostat Gen 3 - low battery, not charging

AndrewMcK

Hi,

My Nest is wall mounted and wired, but since last night has been showing low battery, and has disconnected from the WiFi.

I have tried to charge it using the USB for 90 mins this morning, but with little success.

I did get enough power to obtain the technical power info as per the attached image ( although the battery voltage slowly declined).

I’m at a loss and would appreciate some advice!

Andrew

I’m having the same problem with my 4 year old gen3 Nest. I don’t have a C wire so my LIn is 20MA but everything else is the same as yours.
DIY on line forums say it is the battery if it only charges to 3.6VDC so I’m going to try to replace mine.
sort of a bummer if this thing only lasts 4 years. I would have thought 10 years for a thermostat.

Hey there,
Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to drop in here to help.

I understand that these issues can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

Please let me know.

Best regards,

I have the same problem. The Nest Thermostat is only 1 week old. It had a C-wire that the system confirms is detected. Still getting low battery indicator. Please advise on why the system doesn't automatically charge the battery.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your device not charging. I would be happy to assist you further and take a closer look. Do you mind me asking if you could send in a picture of your power level for me to review? Are you able to charge the device via USB? Please let me know, as I would like to ensure you are good to go.
