Nest Thermostat Install issue

I Just installed Nest Learning Thermostat.  Checked the wiring, is ok per instructions.  Display comes on initially with GOOGLE logo, then spinning dots.  Then I get the following message:  Please attach the Display to its base."  I reset the unit and get the same results.    I have reseated the display several times.

Have you checked the battery level on your stat?  Settings > Tech Info > Power.  Level should be 3.8 to 3.9.

If it's low  and assuming you have a supply to the stat base, then the base to stat connection may be faulty of the battery u/s.

Hi, thanks for the reply.  I had the display plugged in to a charger, so it should be charged up.  I check the base power connection and measured 24 v to the base.  plugged the display in again and get the same message, "Please attach the Display to its base."   I have reseated the display multiple times and did a reset, get the same result.  At this point I think it is faulty.

I think you are probably right. Though can you check the batteries. Clearly if they are totally knackered they won't hold any charge.
