This is very annoying and dangerous as this is my lake house where I do not live in winter and it is currently extremely cold. Last night the Nest went offline without warning in extreme cold. I had to drive out to replace the batteries to avoid freezing pipes and dead houseplants and goldfish. Fresh batteries fixed this for now. It will happen again. I have a a power connector and it says "Connected". Voltage with the new alkaline batteries says 3.15v. Typically when it drops below 3v I get a notification but the thermostat still works. Yesterday there was no notification and it just stopped connecting/working! Help!

How do you have the Nest thermostat wired?
Do you have a heat/cool system or a heat-only system?

Heat/cool with a Nest Power Connector.

Hello folks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thanks for the help, @Patrick_Caezza.
@silverbirch, power-related issues could cause your thermostat to drain its batteries quickly. Let's check your thermostat's power status. Please go to your actual thermostat's equipment settings and select "Power Info". You should see a 385 increase in power when the Nest Power Connector is properly installed.
Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
Mark

I will be out there tomorrow and check. In the meantime, I switched to high-end Duracell Powercell batteries about 4 weeks ago and have not had any problems. I was using Costco Kirkland alkalines previously. There was another poster on here having trouble with those. They batteries were generally not going dead, but the voltage was dropping below 3V resulting in warnings. These Powercells are still at 3.13V

Changing from Costco Kirkland alkalines to professional PowerCell akalines seems to have fixed my problem
