Hello,
I tried turning the heat up on the Nest app this morning because it was freezing, the app said there was no wifi connectivity. We did have an outage last night so went to the thermostat to reset the wifi and the thermostat is off completely. I also hear a chirping. This thermostat has been working fine, it's only 6 months old. I took it off the wall and plugged it in to USB to try charging it. Is this normal?
Thanks

I’m having a similar problem. I took my thermostat off-line to try and restore it back to its original state before I install Nest and now it says I’m getting no power through the red wire. How is that possible?

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out — we'd love to help.
Nest Thermostat wires are responsible to maintain its charge. If the wires didn't provide power to the thermostat it will use its own built in battery to run and if the battery drains it will lead the thermostat to disconnect to Wi-Fi and shut down.
An hour of charging will be enough to regain its power. Also, I suggest you do power cycling your breaker.
You can check this guide for additional information.

Thanks Jenelyn,
The problem was the thermostat itself. It was not holding a charge, even after 2 hours of [remote] charging. There was power to the wires but because it wouldn’t hold a charge it thought there must not be power. Not a very “smart” stat in my opinion. Anyway, I’m installing the new one that was just delivered as soon as I’m done here, which is about now. Oh and btw, the new one is NOT another POS Nest thermostat so I expect it will last much longer. Bye now…

My problem is resolved. Turned out there was no power to the line. After that was resolved, it works great, just as usual!
