Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
We have moved into a house that has the nest thermostat hooked up to the water heating and house heating in the UK. It was working perfectly for months prior to me wanting to set up the app. Once I pulled the monitor off its base to scan the QR code, as instructed by the app, and plugging the monitor back on the base, the nest screen is black, making a buzzing sound and blinking green at the top.
I tried to reset by holding the monitor down for 10 seconds and then releasing. This did not work.
I have gone and bought the micro-USB charger to try charging it as recommended by google help (when charging the monitor makes a buzzing sound as well) and when plugging it back into the base, it still has the green blinking at the top.
When I tried combining the charged monitor to the base and trying the factory reset, a red blinking light appears at the top of the monitor.
I would greatly appreciate some help as we do not have any hot water or heating without this thermostat as it is not yet connected to my app.
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Alisha

Sounds very much like a duff battery to me. The buzzing usually indicates that problem. Try pressing the display against the base, but keep pressed until you see the logo appear. Might work, but I doubt it to be honest if really flat. A new battery might work, but you have to know what you are doing. Try charging with the USB for an hour, and see if that helps, but again I doubt it.

Hi @AVS1,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) stopped working after you removed it from the base for app setup and is now black, buzzing, and showing a blinking green light. I appreciate you confirming the troubleshooting steps you tried. I'm happy to assist.
