Nest Thermostat causing AC freeze up

zachandcheysmom

Wanted to upgrade my standard Honeywell thermostat to a smart thermostat and chose Nest based on reviews. However, since installing, my air conditioner keeps freezing up. It was never an issue with the old thermostat. Wiring is all correct according to Google Nest. On my old thermostat there was a jumper wire between RH and RC. If not installed in new thermostat, could this be the cause?

No, that isn't the problem.

Can you post a picture of the original thermostat's wiring and one show how you wired the Nest?

Sorry I can’t show photos. As per hvac technician, that could find no problems with cooling system other than new Nest device. He removed it and re-installed original Honeywell thermostat and there has been no more freeze up on the system. I have returned the Nest thermostat for a refund!

Hi folks,
