Nest Thermostat cooling even when it reaches

RK121

Hi,

My Google nest learning thermostat is working unusually and I am incurring huge bills.

Scenario: I set the mode to cool and the temperature to 70F. If the outside temperature is 60, I expect it to turn off but it keeps running and the hole becomes extremely cold. Last winter I paid $750 for one month because of this! I called help desk, checked with my AC guy and don’t see any issue.

If I don’t a suitable resolution by end of this fall, I will switch back to Ecobee.

Appreciate your response.

Hi RK121,

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat just keeps on running even though the target temperature has been reached, causing you an expensive electricity bill. Try to call for cooling again, and if the thermostat still runs your AC after it has reached the target temperature, kindly remove the thermostat display off its base and observe if the AC will turn off or stay on.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Zoe

Hi Zoe,

Thanks for your response. During last winter when I see it was unusually running, I turned off the AC and still it was running. Later I plugged the entire thermostat off the base and it  got turned off after some time. That is how I managed to turn it off. When I turn back on after few hours I see the same issue repeats.

There are situations in Texas when sometimes it will be 80 in the afternoon and later it will go down to 50 in the night. I have tried keeping both/cool/heat etc. but it did not resolve the issue.

Thanks.

I have filled out the form. Two days ago I faced same issue when AC kept on running and my home became very cold than outside. It did not stop when I pulled out the unit. I had to pull out the wires from the unit on the wall to stop the AC! Appreciate earliest help.

Guys,

Winter has started and I am still did not get any resolution. The first ever Google product I am so disappointed. I had high hopes that it will learn using AI and help me and it is detrimental with more than $2000 overall higher in energy bill and unbearable cold inside the home! How can I escalate? Let me know if I can get a refund for the product.
