Nest Thermostat dropping WiFi

Have had no issues with WiFi connection before Sept. 25 update.  Now Thermostat shows connected to WiFi and Nest App at the thermostat itself but neither or my thermostats show in my app now.

Please help resolve this as we travel ofter and rely on Nest app to monitor and set our temps for our home.

I am also now having this problem but in some ways worse.  The Nest thermostats are shutting down the AC without warning many times a day.  A reset will start them back up, but then they turn off without warning again in less than 4 hours.  I've heard that I may need a new router, but that's not an acceptable "maybe" to me.  It's 2am and my house is 81°F.

Yes a new router is out of the question.   I have a very expensive high end router, so I am sure it is not the router that is the problem, especially since the problem has never happened prior to the Sept. update put out by Nest.

Hi folks,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing detailed information. I understand that you are encountering some WiFi connection issues with your Nest thermostat that seems connected but does not show up on the app and shuts down the AC without notice. I'm here to help you find a solution together.

To assist you further, please attempt the following questions:

  • What Nest thermostat model do you have?
  • What is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  • What is the color of the LED light?
  • Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  • Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  • Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  • Does the thermostat charge with a USB cable?
  • Are you controlling your thermostat from the Nest or Google Home app or the thermostat display?
  • Can the thermostat find or detect other networks?
  • Was there an error message displayed on the thermostat? If yes, what error message appears?

Please review the following details and notify me of the thermostat's power readout in the interim:

  • Under Settings, select Technical Info, and then select Power.

Please keep me posted.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.
