Nest Thermostat losing connection to WiFi, and not being able to find any when searching

Suddenly for almost two weeks now, one of my two nest thermostats lost connection with WIFI and now wont find any networks.  All my other WIFI devices working fine, reset router, restarted and then reset thermostat, and still having same issue.  It keeps saying it cannot find a wifi connection, and now it cannot even connect back to my Nest App because it cannot finish the wifi connection.  I believe this would need replacement, as the other thermostat and other devices I have on Nest are working just fine with my WiFi.

Hey DLW,

Sorry to hear about your Nest thermostat and for the delay. I also appreciate that you've already taken the time to try these troubleshooting steps.

A few questions — what type of Nest thermostat is this? Do you get any code or message on your thermostat display or your Google Home/Nest app when attempting to connect it to your Wi-Fi network? Also just to confirm, it does not recognize any Wi-Fi network including a mobile hotspot, correct?

I'll be glad to check on your warranty options once we've covered all the bases.

It is the Nest Learning Thermostat.  There are no codes shown, it just kept saying it has not been connected to wifi for a certain number of days.  So first thing I did was just use the thermostat to find my network, but it could not detect any networks, and I tried to enter the name and password manually, and it did not detect and take it.  I did check Nest and it was not there, so I did a restart to the thermostat, and tried all I did before and nothing.  I then did the reconnect in the app, and it always hanged up when it tried to establish the wifi connection.  It would just keep searching so eventually did a reset to the thermostat, and then same thing when connecting it to the app, hangs up on wifi connection.  I have no clue if it recognized a mobile hotspot, I do not have one running.  It detects zero, so only option is to put in directly, and did not work for any of the two wifi options I have available.

Hey DLW,

Gotcha ― thanks for these added details and for trying those steps.

Just to cover all the bases, those two Wi-Fi networks that you've tried this thermostat on, are they from the same router? Is your router and thermostat within at least 12 feet distance from each other? Also, could you try restarting your router then reset your thermostat's network settings by going to Settings > Reset > Network. If there's no option for Network, select Account connection instead.

If all else fails, do a complete reset on your thermostat by following the steps here; https://bit.ly/3riP5Dp

Keep me posted.
