Nest Thermostat not following schedule

Gmaeso

Have a Nest thermostat (not the learning) and it’s not following the schedule, changed appearance on Google Home App where I cannot longer select any preset temperature, if I put a hold preset temp it changes right away to the previous preset temp, etc. By all means it’s not working.
Tried with deleting, resetting and reinstall, search, etc and nothing works.

Hi, @Gmaeso,

Thank you for posting in the community. I apologize that your thermostat isn't following the schedule or allowing you to select temperature presets. I'm happy to help find a solution.

To better assist you, please provide the following information:

  • What type of thermostat do you have?
  • When the thermostat changes the temperature, what temperature does it settle on?
  • Do you have a Nest Renew subscription, or are you enrolled in the Rush Hour Rewards program?
  • Do you have a heat pump system or a conventional system?
  • Are there any error messages displayed on the thermostat?
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of your wiring configuration?
  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?
  • Does the issue happen on heating only, cooling only, or both?

This knowledge will assist in choosing the most effective approach.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Ana.

  • What type of thermostat do you have?
  • When the thermostat changes the temperature, what temperature does it settle on? Std Nest thermostat (economic) model: Thermostat-1.4
  • Do you have a Nest Renew subscription, or are you enrolled in the Rush Hour Rewards program? No.
  • Do you have a heat pump system or a conventional system? Working as cooling only. Have electric reheat but W1 not connected to thermostat. White wire being used as “common.”
  • Are there any error messages displayed on the thermostat? No
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of your wiring configuration?

  • When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system?

A/C is like 6-8 months old. Thermostat stopped working properly once Google Home App installed in new phone (iPhone 13) and app changed appearance.

  • Does the issue happen on heating only, cooling only, or both? I have it as cooling only. Not heating.

  • When the thermostat changes the temperature, what temperature does it settle on? Changes temperature manually on the Google Home App, telling Google Home Display to set specific temperature or manually on the thermostat. But, does not follow the schedule nor can set “hold” of any preset like “comfort,” “sleep,” etc.

Hi, @Gmaeso,

Thank you so much for your quick response and for all the information. You mentioned in your previous post that you were deleting, resetting, and reinstalling; could you please describe how you did these troubleshooting steps?

In the meantime, please try these troubleshooting steps:

If these steps don't resolve the inconvenience, consider resetting the thermostat to default settings and setting it up again through the Google Home app.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
