Nest Thermostat stopped heating at 64 degrees.

I have a brand new Nest on a brand new furnace that is set for 72 degrees but it has stopped heating the furnace at 64 degrees and it is showing Stage 2.

How do I get it to finish heating?

The best way to get support here, is to include a picture of your old thermostat before you installed the nest thermostat, and then show a picture of the nest thermostat back plate where you put the wires there. If this is a new system and never had an old thermostat, then your HVAC Company should wire up your nest back plate for you. The fact that you say it’s showing stage 2, I can only assume that you’re saying that’s what the furnace is saying because I’m not aware of a nest thermostat i that would be saying stage two heating or cooling.

The furnace is a brand new gas furnace but the thermostat was mounted where the old thermostat was. I have no idea what the wiring was behind it.

I have contacted the HVAC company over the matter and they are coming out next week. The temperature has yet to exceed 65.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for the help, Ken.

@TangentRW, how's it going? Did your HVAC company visit and inspect your Nest Thermostat? Please let us know how it went, and we would be glad to know what the result would be.

Regards,
Mark

Hi TangentRW,

I'm checking back in — how's it going? Still need our help?

Yes, they came and fixed it. It was a backflow problem in the furnace.

Thank you for your efforts.
