Nest Thermostat with Pellet Stove - Heat Source?

RichKeith

Hi I have my 3rd gen nest learning thermostat connected to my pellet stove (replaced a 1st gen nest the previous owner had attached) and It seems to be working BUT I’m just curious what I should chose as the heat source since “pellet stove” isn’t an option (Gas, electric, etc)? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi RichKeith,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community forum. I'd be happy to shed some light on your situation here. Systems that use coal, wood chips, pellets, anthracite, or other biomass materials are typically incompatible with Nest thermostats, but since the previous Nest Thermostat is working on that system. You can select Gas on the options.

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

Regards,

Renz

It’s working fine (set to electric right now) but I will switch It to gas…

Hi RichKeith,

I also have a pellet stove and would like to add a google nest thermostat. Can you share the wiring instructions? My stove uses a white and red wire. Thanks

I have the WHITE HEAT into W1, the RED POWER into Rh and a 24v BLUE COMMON WIRE into C.

Hi folks,

@cccustomshop, chiming in—could you share the photo of your current thermostat wiring so I can check more on it? On the other hand, you may use our Compatibility Checker to determine if a Nest Thermostat is compatible with your heating and cooling system.

Thanks for your help, @RichKeith and @RenzJ

Best,

Zoe
