Nest Thermostat won’t hold a charge

My Nest learning thermostat won’t hold a charge.  I’ve removed it from the base and charged it in an outlet overnight.  It works for a few hours and then goes dead.  Prior to this it would not connect to the home WiFi.  We bought 2 thermostat at the same time and the other one is working perfectly.

Hi Jodibug77,

Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear that your thermostat is not holding charge. Let me take a look at this for you. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. When did the issue first occur?
  4. What is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  5. Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  6. Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  7. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  8. For how long did you charge the thermostat display?
  9. Did you use a micro-USB cable in charging the thermostat display?
  10. Did you plugged the thermostat in to a working power outlet?

Also, gather the power readouts of your thermostat's Battery, VOC, VIN, and lIN under Settings > Technical Info > Power.

Keep us posted. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe
