Nest Thermostat

PattyE

The house I bought already had a nest thermostat, so I'm not sure of everything yet. I've had it set at "eco" for the last month.  I thought that was supposed to ensure that it would always be set at the most ecologically (and financially) optimum temperature.  But my monthly Nest report shows that I've used 89 more somethings than last month, which doesn't sound maximum to me.  Is that just the weather, or is "eco" not what I thought?

If the nest thermostat is not paired with your personal nest app account, then the schedules will not work correctly.  Did the previous owner delete the thermostat from his nest account? If it is paired to your Nest account then the location of your phone dictates the schedule.  The Home/Away feature will be active and when your phone is at home the regular heating or Cooling schedule will be active and Eco  it active. When your phone leaves the home it switches back to Eco.

My nest is programmed to my wifi and my personal nest app account.  My question is simply, does "ECO" mean that it's automatically set at the most ecologically and economically optimal temperature?

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for lending a hand here, Ken.

@PattyE, I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I understand that Eco Mode should help you save energy at your most comfortable temperature setting. With that, it'll maintain your temperature setting and only activate your system when your thermostat senses a minimum of a 2- to 3-degree temperature difference until it reaches your Eco temperature. Disabling the auto-learning schedule and clearing the schedule temperatures would help to avoid random changes in your temperature.

Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Regards,

Mark

Hello PattyE,

I'm checking back in. Have you tried disabling the auto-schedule and clearing the schedule temperatures? Were there any modifications made? Please let me know if that helps.

Thanks,

Mark
