Nest Thermostat

I need some direction..my thermostat will not pick up my wifi at home. I've reset it several times and it remains "searching for networks" screen. I have even tried entering in the wifi name and password and it says no networks found. How can that be when I have three tvs, two laptops, one tablet, a google mini speaker, and a ring camera all working from the same wifi. Any suggestions other than restarting?

Hi moniqueedoll,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I want to check if you are still in need of any help. If so, please follow these steps:

1. Make sure that the thermostat is at least 12 feet from the Wi-Fi router.

  • If the thermostat is too close to the router, it might lead to an unreliable connection.

2. Check for wireless interference.

  • Other devices that operate on a 2.4 GHz frequency may interfere with the Nest thermostat's ability to communicate with the Wi-Fi router or access point.
    • Turn off any devices that may cause interference. Then try to connect the thermostat to Wi-Fi again.

The following are examples of devices that may cause interference:
      • Cordless phone
      • Baby monitors
      • Microwaves
      • Bluetooth devices
      • Wireless video equipment

3. Use another Wi-Fi-capable device to evaluate the Wi-Fi signal strength in the location of the thermostat.

  • Check their Wi-Fi access point’s firmware version.
  • Compare the current firmware version to the newest version available on the manufacturer’s website.
  • Update the firmware version if necessary.

4. Make sure the thermostat is in the recommended network settings.

5. Check if the thermostat can connect to a mobile hotspot.

  • To further check your Nest Thermostat's connectivity, connect it to a mobile hotspot.
    • If the thermostat connects to a mobile hotspot, the issue may be with the Wi-Fi configuration, and you may have to contact their Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
