Hello, I live in Florida and I am looking for some help to see if I can install a Nest Thermostat on my AC/Heating unit. It is an American Standard Brand about 15 years old, electric forced air system with a variable speed motor. I will try to include a photo but will also add a description of the wires to this message. I have two AC units and did install a Nest Thermostat on this smaller AC unit with only 4 wires and I use the Google Home App to run it. I really love the way it works! The second American Standard unit T-stat has 6 wires and 2 jumper wires attached to the base plate. Base plate ID label and colors are as follows- C ( black wire) , W/E ( white wire) , RC ( red wire) , G (green wire) , Y ( orange wire) , Y2 ( blue wire) . Also I have 2 jumpers . One jumper from RH to RC and one jumper from RC to Y, which has a small rounded electronic part, I have no idea what this device is. So, can anyone help to determine if I can install a new Nest thermostat with all these wires? I can determine where 5 of the wires would go on the Nest T-stat except for one , the Y2 Blue wire, stage 2 cooling wire. Would this connect to OB on the Nest base? If it makes any difference at all I rarely use the heat cycle. The on-line compatibility checker could not give me an answer on this. Thanks for looking! Sorry , I could not figure how to post a photo here.

Hi @Hometech,
Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest community. I'm glad you like the Nest Thermostat that you have installed in your small AC unit. I understand that you would like to install a Nest Thermostat with your American Standard HVAC system. I'm happy to assist you right now.
I appreciate the time you took providing the wiring information. The wiring in your American Standard HVAC system is compatible with all Nest Thermostat models. Regarding the Y2 wire, it is better that you buy a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd or 4th generation for optimal performance in your HVAC system.
For your reference, check this article to learn more about how to Install your Nest thermostat.
Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.

Hi Gabriela,
I liked the original Nest thermostat since I have one installed already on the second unit but because I have the two stage cooling feature on my main HVAC system which allows for low and high speed fan I think it makes better sense to get the Nest Learning thermostat as you suggested. I am going to order that and then when everything is up and running I will let you know how it all worked out.
I appreciate the quick response and clarification as the outside temperatures in Florida are heating up so I have no time to waste.
Thank you!
