Nest Won't Call for Heat

I'm attempting to complete the initial wiring setup for my new Nest Learning Thermostat. Photo included is what we came from, and Nest setup assistant advised the attached Nest configuration (circular wiring diagram). However, using that wiring with the Nest is resulting in no heat output during the setup test (cooling and fan work fine), Stage 1 heat test results in nothing (no fan, no heat (I've already tried adjusting the configuration setting in Nest Pro to force the fan on, but no luck)), and the stage 2 heat test results in fan only. Just looking for a little guidance prior to reaching out to a Nest Pro. Any assistance is much appreciated. Thanks!Old Thermostat ConfigurationOld Thermostat ConfigurationCurrent Nest ConfigurationCurrent Nest Configuration

Following.  Looks like we have the same setup and I'm hoping to confirm compatibility before ordering a nest thermostat.PXL_20230523_180107313.jpg

I'm told by an HVAC technician that I've wired everything correctly, and that I've setup the Nest settings correctly as well. He goes on to say that the Nest has a built in system safety feature which prevents it from calling for heat, from a forced air gas furnace, when the outside temp is above 85 degrees. Can anyone confirm?

Hi mckic006,

Thanks for posting in the Google Nest Community forum. Everything is configured correctly. Based on your wires, you have a conventional 2nd stage heating system.

Also, safety temperatures can protect your home during extremely cold or hot weather. With Safety Temperatures, when your home reaches a set temperature limit, your thermostat will turn on heating or cooling even if the thermostat is set to Off. This can help ensure that your pipes won't freeze or your home won't overheat.

You can check out this support article for your reference about the Safety Temperature feature.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hi folks,

@mshorey81, thanks for choosing Nest. You have a heat pump system with an emergency heat, and that is compatible with the Nest Thermostats. Please let us know if you still have questions in mind, as I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Jenelyn
