Nest and Fan Only Operation

I have a Nest 3rd Gen.  I have a wire to G.  I "can" control the fan via the settings but only by selecting Heat or Cool.  I do NOT want to set heat or cool.  I have a two level house and I have to fry the upstairs to get the temp up in the basement.  Running the fan "ONLY" allows me to balance the temperatures between the two.  My ancient cheap thermostat could do this.  Why can't my Nest?

Hi IdahoSpud,

Thanks for reaching out! I understand you need to run only your fan, and I'm happy to help. Please follow these steps:

  1. Tap the thermostat you'd like to control from the home screen.
  2. Tap Fan.
  3. Select the desired run time. If you have a multi-speed fan, you'll also be able to select your preferred fan speed.
  4. Tap Start to run your fan.

Your fan will automatically turn off after the selected time, or you can stop it early by selecting Stop from the fan menu.

I recommend visiting Fan control with a Nest thermostat for more information and features.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Manuel
