I have had a 3rd generation next for a number of years and it has worked great, but recently started giving me problems and said there was no power. My HVAC guy came and looked at it and said there was actually power and that it must be a problem in the base of the Nest device.
So I purchased a new Nest device - a 4th Generation Nest Learning Thermostat and we re-did the installation, but it is still saying that there is no power to the Rc and Rh wires. Again - he is testing those wired and they do have power - but for some reason the Nest device (2 of them now) are saying there is no power.
The wires I have are:
If we touch the W1 and the Rh wired together, the furnace runs great - but when we stick them into the proper slots - we get that message saying that there is no power. Any ideas?

Hi, @mactoph!
Thank you for contacting the community. I'm sorry to hear you're not receiving power to the Rh and Rc terminals on both your old and new thermostats. I appreciate you hiring a technician and having the wiring checked. I'd be happy to help.
Since the technician identified a baseplate issue, and you're still experiencing the same error messages after installing the Nest Learning thermostat 4th gen, even after performing a wire twist (W1 and Rh), the team would like to learn more about this behavior. When you get a chance, please fill out this form and let us know when you’re finished. We’ll have someone reach out to you via email from there.
Feel free to reply if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Ana
