I have an all electric home, our primary heating and cooling is a heatpump with furnace heat straps.
We just completed installation of an outdoor wood burner. The hot water is constantly circulating to a water-to-air heat exchanger in the plenum. I referenced another post and a few YouTube videos for controlling the fan.
My goal is having the thermostat call for heat and only run the fan. I move the white wire to w1 and selected duel fuel; geothermal. The * terminal is left as emergency heat. I set the use of alt heat to always. But when I call for heat, the heat strips turn on. (Massive power draw on my Sense). Am I missing a setting?

Hi Ff309,
Thanks for posting. It seems that you have made some wiring and configuration changes to your Nest thermostat to control the fan separately when calling for heat. However, it appears that the heat strips are still activating when you call for heat, resulting in a high power draw. Are you located in North America or Europe? What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
I'll look forward to your response.
Best,
Zoe
