Nest app won't accept 2nd thermostat in same home.

The first thermostat went in the app with no issues at all.  The second one won't go at all.  Spent 3+ hours on phone with tech support.  The only solutions so far is to have two separate homes.  So now I have to have the downstairs thermostat in one home and the upstairs in another home.  This is beyond ridiculous.  I've had this setup in a previous house with no issues at all.  With the cost of these units, the app should work flawlessly.
