Nest as an old school thermostat

Nestherm

Hi all,

I would just like to use the nest like an old school thermostat - on at a certain time, off at certain time,
How can I do this, without it learning and changing everything as it comes on all irregular times currently.

I have a 3rd gen nest and use the app.

Thanks.

Hi Nestherm,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you want to use your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) as a traditional, fixed-schedule device, preventing its current irregular activation times. No worries, I can definitely help you with this!

Since your goal is to stop the learning features that lead to irregular activation times, I suggest we first check for and disable any enabled smart settings, as these are likely preventing you from maintaining a fixed schedule.

To help diagnose the cause of these changes, please provide the following details:

  • Have you seen any error messages when the thermostat changes the temperature?
  • Does this issue occur with both heating and cooling, or only one?
  • Are you enrolled in any energy-saving programs like Rush Hours or Nest Renew?

In the meantime, please check the following settings and historical data, as these steps will help us diagnose and correct the issue:

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
