Nest cannot find a nearby device for wifi setup? Riidiculous and setup doesn’t work.

My first Nest thermostats (we have two zone AC) worked fine for about 3y until I got the famous “w5” wifi won’t connect error.

Decided to buy the lower-priced, mirror-finish units. After wiring up the first one I cannot get it to connect using the Google Home App - it searches for a “nearby device to finish setup” but does not ever connect.

Have done a reset, done a factory reset, nothing else to do but return this POS. 

Never buying anything from Google again. They have no idea what B2C is about.

They are great at selling ads. That’s about it.

I understand that wifi issues can be confusing but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
