Nest disconnected from Wi-Fi after home app had an update

After Google home app had an update nest thermostat went offline. Went up to the house to troubleshoot. I restarted nest I did a factory reset and I restarted the router. I uninstalled home app reinstalled. Now I cannot connect thermostat to the home app. It keeps saying that my network password is incorrect. Which is impossible. I manually typed it in. And just to see if I was crazy I typed it in to another device and that device connected to the router. On a totally separate issue thinking that maybe the batteries were too low to connect to Wi-Fi I checked the status. Although the battery strength said good the voltage was 3.0. I put in a brand new set of batteries fresh out of the package and they only registered a 3.1 volt. I'm at a complete loss and I'm ready to throw the nest out the window and go back to a dumb thermostat.

Mine stopped working last week, and I tried both reset options from the router to the thermostat, and I found out the only problem is the google learning thermostat. And call the Utility co that where I purchased it to get the replacement, and they told me: I have to have the original box with it.

Searching on the website: there are a lot of people who had the same issue.

I was on phone with tech support for over an hour doing all those things plus more. Google home app located nest thermostat but when it comes time to add it to home the message says that my wifi password is incorrect. It was connected via the app on the same network with the same password for months. One of the suggestions was to uninstall and reinstall app and to delete and reinstall thermostat on app. Nothing.

I wouldn't waste my breath. @RachelGomez123 keeps regurgitating the same mostly useless nonsense responses to any posts about wifi trouble.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for the help here, Rachel.

I'm sorry to hear you're all having an issue reconnecting your Nest Thermostats in the Google Home app. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

I appreciate all the steps you've taken. Could we give it another shot? Let's try these steps:

  1. On your thermostat. Remove the thermostat display from its base and take out the batteries for at least 3 minutes before plugging them back in.
  2. Go to Settings > Account. Select Disconnect if an account is still connected.
  3. Open the Google Home app. Remove the thermostat if it still appears on the homescreen.
  4. Create a home structure in the Google Home app.
  5. Proceed by adding it as a new device in the new structure.

Please let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Mark
