After summer, I've tried to start the nest gen 3 thermostat. It did not. So I've charged it for the night. Next few days it worked fine. but then it turned off. Now after days of charging it does not wants to start or show anything on the screen apart from the blinking green light.
any help?
Shall I buy a new battery? the item is out of warranty.

The blinking green light usually indicates the Nest is receiving power but not booting. It could be a dead or failing internal battery. Since it worked briefly after charging, replacing the battery may solve the issue. Make sure to use a genuine or compatible Nest battery and follow a guide carefully, as the Gen 3 battery isn’t easily user-replaceable. If that doesn’t help, it might be a deeper hardware failure, and a new unit could be necessary.

Hello @DanielLO,
Thank you for reaching out to the Google Nest Community Forum. I understand that your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) has a black screen, even after you charged it overnight; it worked for a few days but is now completely blank, and you are looking for spare internal components to fix it. I would be happy to share more information.
Due to the way the Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) is built, the chip is an integral part of its internal components. It is not something that can be detached and replaced on its own; our products are designed to be replaced as a complete unit to ensure performance and safety standards.
The best path forward is to purchase a new Nest Thermostat. You can find more information, including features and purchasing options, on the Google Store.
I appreciate your collaboration and the information you provided, @Harper_King.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Daniel

hi, thanks for your reply.
Is worth noting that this got replaced about a year ago, after a warranty call.
So, why would I buy again a product that had 2 warranty calls, (one a year ago and another one now)
Also, to get the refund for the first warranty call, was extremely difficult, took hours of my time and months to short out.
Overall my experience with Google hardware is very poor.
