Nest gen 3 offline, even with power adapter connected

I have a nest thermostat gen 3 that is about 2 months old. It worked fine for about the first week and I started getting the offline message. If I would disconnect it and plug it in it would come back online for a day or two but then it would go offline again. I do not have a C wire connected so I bought the power adapter and wired it in. That seemed to solve the problem for about 2 weeks but now all of a sudden it is offline again and will not connect because of low battery issues, even with the power adapter. What's going on?

Hi @karrun,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear your Nest learning thermostat goes offline all the time. I understand it can be frustrating when your device isn't working as expected. Let's work together to figure out the issue you're experiencing. To help with that, I have a few questions for you:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the thermostat?
  • How far is the router from your Nest thermostat?
  • Can your Nest thermostat see other networks?
  • Please share a picture of the error messages you're getting on your Nest thermostat.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Cheers,
Jonathan

The issue started about 2 weeks after it was installed.

No appliances near the t-stat

Router is about 15 feet away from the t-stat

No, the Nest doesn't see any other networks

How do I attach a picture?

Hi @karrun,

Thanks for your reply.

Since your Nest thermostat can't see other networks, I'd like to see if there are any error messages or code. You can upload the picture by clicking on the "camera icon" before sending the reply. A picture of the error would be really helpful information.

Please keep me updated.

Regards,
Jonathan
