Nest heat won’t start heating without turning off then back on

My nest has worked fine until the past two days. It is showing that it is heating but it is not turning the furnace on. I am having to tune the thermostat off then back on to heat for it to start. Any ideas for troubleshooting?

This is a long shot but . . .    Many Nest owners on the forum have been having trouble with Home/Away Assist and with the Safety Temperature feature.  (You can search for threads.)  So, if you have Home/Away Assist on, try turning it off.  If that doesn't help, try raising your Safety Temperature as high as it will go.  (Or lower the Safety Temperature several degrees.)  If changing the Safety Temperature works to get your Nest back on track, you can then go in and put the Safety Temp back to where you want it.

Also many are having an issue with the new software they forced onto us and now just say there is no issue just buy a new one?!
