Nest heating while away

Cassidy73
Community Member

Installed nest tstat recently and worked well.  Have been away for a few weeks and noticed just recently it started to heat in AM even though temp no where near set point for away, it was switching into comfort mode as if it had sensed somebody home.  Nobody there, phones nowhere near the house.  I have reviewed all settings to see if i can find a reason with no luck.  Any advice?

Hi Cassidy73,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. To isolate the issue, could you try disabling your thermostat's sensor under presence sensing?

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Edward

Ok have adjusted and will monitor.

Unfortunately this did not work and it switched to comfort mode and started heating this AM.  I turned it back to Eco and again this afternoon it switched back to comfort on its own

Hi Cassidy73,

Thanks for the update. Could you check the Nest Energy History to see the reason why the target temperature changed?

Thanks,

Edward

  • I downloaded history - it says reason temperature, but that is not making sene
  • "eco mode": "ECO MODE INACTIVE"
    "prior _eco_mode": "ECO_MODE_AUTO_ECO"
    "eco_mode_change_reason":
    ECO MODE CHANGE REASON TEMPERATURE".

"eco mode": "ECO MODE INACTIVE"
"prior _eco_mode": "ECO_MODE_AUTO_ECO"
"eco_mode_change_reason":
ECO MODE CHANGE REASON TEMPERATURE".

Sorry for duplicate reaponse above. As i monitor the system (have been away for weeks) on some days it stays in eco mode, other days, like today it cycles thru sleep and comfort modes without any input or anybody being there.. and is heating as required as it does this
