Nest ignoring set temperature at the same time each night

I live in Southern California in the desert and we have hot nights. I like sleeping in a very cool room with the recommended temperature of 68.  For several nights I am waking up around 1:00am and the Nest device is showing a temperature of 76.

To try and address the issue I have reset the device to factory settings. Deleted the schedule. I also got an AC company to check my AC and they couldn’t find any issue. The AC works fine during the day, but for some unknown reason it is ignoring the set temperature usually around the same time, each day, between 12-1 am. It starts to get cooler again around 3am. Could this be SCE adjusting the temp? This is the second Nest thermostat that I have bought and still have gremlin issues that can’t be explained.

Any other suggestions before I rip this drive off the wall and replace it with a basic manual thermostat?

Thanks Garrett,

It was the compressor which had an auto shut off when the collector for the water from condensation was going to overflow and cause water damage. The Nest thermostat was not the cause.

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me.

Hey there Clarebro,

I'm so sorry for the late response, but I wanted to hop in here to see how I could help. I understand having a thermostat that doesn't listen to you can be frustrating especially when you're sleeping, but I'm happy to take a look into this for you.

I would suggest reviewing this article about Temperature schedules, to make sure that you don't have a temperature schedule currently active. I would also suggest taking a look at this article to learn how to disable learning from the thermostat in case that is the issue.

Please let me know if you still have the issue after that.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
