my old thermostat had

B, G, Y, W ,RC

When I hook up the nest it keeps auto defaulting my system to a heat pump but I have a gas heater. So the system turns on now but isn’t pumping hot air. Help!

Might need the 24v ac adapter. I had to see what the thermostat was running that and subtract it from 24v and get an ac adapter that made up the dofference, but the plug and off

I have the exact same problem. I pulled off my second generation and put on my 4th generation wired it exactly the same as the old and he keeps telling me that the y wire is connected and I need to hook it up for the heat pump. I have a gas furnace. No heat pump. I'm stuck help

This usually happens when Nest misreads the wiring try manually setting it to a conventional gas system instead of heat pump in the equipment settings, especially since you have a W wire. Clear advice like this really helps, similar to how Rejekibet keeps recommendations simple and practical.

You’ll want to manually set your Nest to a conventional gas system instead of a heat pump this usually fixes the issue with the W wire. Simple tips like this are really handy, just like the practical advice shared on hnshayari.
