Nest learning Thermostat Eu

Hey i have a zoned heating system.  Upstairs and downstairs  and hot water.

I live in Ireland.

Upstairs is the timer controller and 1 thermostat in the hall, 2nd Thermostat is downstairs in living room.

Boiler is downstairs also.

I want to be able to control heating and water remotely. Do i need two Thermostats or can i set one up for just one zone. ( so i can just control water and downstairs remotely) and manually control upstairs heating when needed. ? I dont use thermostats at the minute for their purpose. We just boost the heating as needed. Can i replace one thermostat and leave one with the old one? Or disconnect it?  I hope this makes sense. I'm very confused.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, @Kimmie2701!

Thank you for contacting the community. I understand you'd like to know how many thermostats are needed for your zoned system. I'm happy to help!

In a zoned system, you'll need one thermostat per zone. In your case, that means one for downstairs and one for upstairs. You can control each thermostat remotely or manually.

For more information, please refer to this article: Learn about zoned system compatibility with Nest thermostats.

If you have a 3rd-generation Nest Learning Thermostat or a Nest Thermostat E, you can control them through the Nest app. You can replace all your existing thermostats with Nest thermostats, or you can replace just one to try it out. For further assistance, refer to this article: Control your Nest thermostat with the app.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Ana
